30 years ago on February 1, 1994 my mother, Lisa Nitto passed away and lost her courageous and painful fight to AIDS. I walk to support her legacy but walking to support an amazing organization NJBuddies that has given MY people hope, respect, dignity and a fresh start to regain their health and reclaim their lives back stolen from an unpredictable virus. As, I turn 40 at the end of this month, reminsicing about the past is still very painful to relive. The time period that my mother had gracefully accepted her fate was a time when predujice, violence, defamation, isolation and fear was something my family endured for almost a decade. My childhood was robbed on joy and connectivity it should have had. Significiant changes have been made an seen in society and social media today. which I am amazed and proud of to see. Growing up in a time where the word HIV or AIDS was whispered among a select few that could be trusted was taboo. Now, Dovato and other antiretrovira drugs are on TV commericials promoting the campaign for wellness and a LIVE TO BE WELL LIVED. Even though Lisa Nitto is no longer with us on this other and many other brave and incredible souls I never had the pleasure to know, please help me support New Jersey AIDS Walk by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance New Jersey AIDS Walk's great cause! Additionally, you can ask me how you can get involved too.
